So, in context of what you describe you are likely to be in a 'better place' without the ABBYY product. It appears that OCR is a rather occassional activity for you. I doubt that the "light" version is superior to the OCR capabilities of Acrobat X. Regardless, there is nothing in Acrobat that can be tweaked to preclude the ABBYY software "doing its thing".
Unless there is some under the hood hack an uninstall of the ABBYY product will not have any effect on the Acrobat install.
That the Corporate install routine for Acrobat included the depreciated (vis-a-vis Windows 7) ABBYY product just means it was bundled in with the install routine. If still having issues do an uninstall / install.
